christen allsop
Welcome to Cannon Beach Yoga Arts. My name is Christen Allsop and I love yoga! I began teaching yoga in May 2001 when our yoga teacher moved away and asked me if I would take over the class. Not really prepared, but also not wanting to be without my yoga community, I agreed. I am ever so grateful to my wonderful teachers, as well as my students who are indeed my greatest teachers.
I received my first 200 Hour Teacher Training Certificate from YogaWorks in Manhattan in July of 2007. And as a bonus went on retreat to southern India with Alan Finger and his ISHTA senior teachers that August. I also have a 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification in Aadil Palkihivala's Purna Yoga. A certification in a wonderful yoga program for kid's called Imagination Yoga. And a 300 Hour certification in ISHTA (Integrated Sciences of Hatha, Tantra & Ayurveda) Yoga.
My approach to yoga is a blended one that is influenced by my understanding of yoga as an art and a science. To that end, I am diligent about technique and alignment; inspired by beauty and grace; and warmed by humor and lightheartedness. I practice yoga to help me live my life in a manner more attentive, more gracious and more fun.
I am the Founder and Festival Director of the Cannon Beach Yoga Festival, and I opened Cannon Beach Yoga Arts on March 28, 2011 after 10 years of teaching on the North Oregon Coast. I am committed to providing a dedicated space for the practice of yoga.
I hope you will visit the new studio, soon!
